ShiftMyData vs MultCloud
The incumbent in cloud-to-cloud transfer, and the product this one was built to measure itself against.

| Providers | 85 across 60 backends | 36, as counted by them |
| Transfer metering | Prepaid: 30 GB free, then 500 GB for ₹100 or 2,500 GB for ₹500, each valid a year | Metered by data volume |
| Self-hostable | Yes — your tokens stay on your server | No |
| Sync modes | 9, including two-way | Advertised as 10 |
| Encrypted destinations | Yes — client-side crypt over any backend | No |
| Runs without your machine on | Yes — transfers run on the server | Yes |
36 is their own figure. It counts Cubby, which shut down in 2017, and MySQL, which is a database rather than storage, and it lists several WebDAV and FTP endpoints (ownCloud, NAS, WEB.DE, ADrive, CloudMe, MyDrive) as separate products. Counted the way we count ours, the honest number is closer to 25.
Where MultCloud falls short
Transfers are metered by data volume, because MultCloud's servers proxy every byte. The entry paid plan includes 100 GB of transfer per month.
Their "zero bandwidth" claim means zero bandwidth on your device, not zero in the middle. Moving a 2 TB Drive is a plan decision, not a Saturday.

The advertised provider list includes services that no longer exist. Cubby was shut down by LogMeIn in 2017 and is still listed.
A padded list is a poor guide to whether your particular pair of clouds is actually supported.

Your provider tokens live on their servers, and there is no self-hosted option.
For a tool that holds long-lived OAuth refresh tokens for every cloud you own, where those tokens sit is the whole security question.

Where MultCloud is the better choice
MultCloud got here first and the product is mature. Its Cloud Explorer is genuinely good, and if you want a hosted tool with a long track record and never intend to run anything yourself, it is a reasonable choice.
Questions
Is ShiftMyData a drop-in replacement for MultCloud?
For moving, syncing and backing up files between clouds, yes. MultCloud and ShiftMyData cover the same ground, and ShiftMyData reaches 85 services. Check the list for your specific pair before you commit to either.
Do my files pass through your servers?
A transfer within one provider is carried out by that provider on its own storage and never touches us. Between two providers it is streamed from one to the other in memory and never written to our disks.
Why would I still choose MultCloud?
MultCloud got here first and the product is mature. Its Cloud Explorer is genuinely good, and if you want a hosted tool with a long track record and never intend to run anything yourself, it is a reasonable choice.
