About ShiftMyData
Effective 26 September 2026.
ShiftMyData moves files between cloud storage services without downloading them. You connect accounts you already have — Google Drive, OneDrive, Dropbox, Amazon S3, Backblaze B2 and others — and transfers run on our servers, provider to provider.
What it does
- Transfer and copy between any two connected accounts.
- Synchronise, including one-way, mirror and two-way modes.
- Back up on a schedule, full or incremental.
- Browse every connected account through one file explorer.
- Delegate a single folder to someone without handing over the account.
Why it runs on a server
The obvious way to move a file between two clouds is to download it and upload it again. That spends your bandwidth twice, takes as long as your connection allows, and stops the moment you close the lid. ShiftMyData transfers between the two providers directly, so a migration continues overnight with your machine switched off.
The trade is that the service holds authorisation to your accounts while it does so. Those credentials are encrypted with AES-256-GCM under per-record keys, are never written to disk in readable form, and are deleted when you disconnect an account. The privacy policy sets out exactly what is held and what is not.
Coverage
93 storage services are supported. Most need no application registration at all — object stores, WebDAV, FTP and SFTP take credentials you already hold, so connecting them involves no third party and no consent screen.
Who runs it
ShiftMyData is operated by Naresh Kumar D, a sole proprietorship, based in India. Questions, faults and requests all reach a person — see the contact page.
