ShiftMyData vs cloudHQ
Continuous replication between cloud services, aimed at Google Workspace teams.
Weighing up cloudHQ alternatives? This page sets ShiftMyData beside cloudHQ on providers, transfer metering, self-hosting and sync modes, and says plainly where cloudHQ is the better choice.
Side by side
| ShiftMyData | cloudHQ | |
|---|---|---|
| Providers | 85 across 60 backends | 20, as counted by them |
| Transfer metering | Prepaid: 30 GB free, then 500 GB for ₹100 or 2,500 GB for ₹500, each valid a year | Not metered |
| Self-hostable | Yes — your tokens stay on your server | No |
| Runs without your machine on | Yes — transfers run on the server | Yes |
Where cloudHQ falls short
Pricing is per user per month, and the provider list is narrower than the category's.
Per-seat pricing suits a company standardising on it and suits an individual with a one-off migration very badly.

No self-hosted option; credentials are held by the service.
Same question as any hosted tool: where do the refresh tokens live.

Where cloudHQ is the better choice
cloudHQ's continuous replication is more mature than most, and its Google Workspace integration is deeper than ours. For an organisation that lives entirely in Workspace and wants always-on mirroring, it is a strong fit.
Questions
Is ShiftMyData a drop-in replacement for cloudHQ?
For moving, syncing and backing up files between clouds, yes. cloudHQ and ShiftMyData cover the same ground, and ShiftMyData reaches 85 services. Check the list for your specific pair before you commit to either.
Do my files pass through your servers?
A transfer within one provider is carried out by that provider on its own storage and never touches us. Between two providers it is streamed from one to the other in memory and never written to our disks.
Why would I still choose cloudHQ?
cloudHQ's continuous replication is more mature than most, and its Google Workspace integration is deeper than ours. For an organisation that lives entirely in Workspace and wants always-on mirroring, it is a strong fit.
